Abstract
Rajayakshma as described in Ayurveda's Brihattrayi presents with features similar to pulmonary tuberculosis and is characterized by progressive tissue depletion (Dhatu Kshaya), chronic cough (Kasa), fever (Jwara), weight loss (Karshya), weakness (Daurbalya) and impaired immunity (Ojakshaya). While anti tubercular therapy is very effective it is also at times made complex by hepatotoxicity which is a result of long-term use thus causing treatment to be interrupted and poor patient compliance.
